Night of Miracles Charity Event Slated for December 22
(Baton Rouge, LA): We Love You BR Foundation, a new non-profit set up by Baton Rouge native musician Blair Gilley will host The Night of Miracles benefit concert Friday, December 22 at the Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge. His band January Noise and other local artists will perform starting at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the show (18+) are available at the Varisty Theatre and online at VarsityTheatre.com for $15. All proceeds from the show will support the Miracle League at Cypress Mounds and Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge. Last year, Gilley hosted Rock the Bank, which raised money to help the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank bounce back after the August 2016 floods and continue serving people in need across the capitol area.
“We feel it is important that we do something to support these organizations that help children with special challenges and disabilities,” Gilley said. “They provide meaningful services for families in our community who often don’t get all the help they need. We are hoping The Night of Miracles benefit will greatly impact these two very deserving organizations. We will be raising money through sponsorships, concert ticket sales, silent and live auctions, raffle drawing and more.”
“This fundraiser will have a huge impact on our ability to continue serving the growing need of individuals with disabilities and their families in our community,” said Jamie Tindle, Executive Director of Families Helping Families. “It is truly a blessing to receive support from the Baton Rouge community.”
Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge is a non-profit resource center organized and directed by family members of individuals with physical, cognitive, mental, emotional, or behavioral disabilities. The organization serves over 5,000 families a year. The Miracle League at Cypress Mounds is a non-profit organized baseball league for children with mental and physical disabilities. The program provides children with a reprieve from their daily challenges as soon as they step or roll onto the field.
“The Miracle League offers all kids with special needs the opportunity to play a team sport, which can be a critical part of childhood development,” Brandi Aertker at Miracle League said. “Through this program we are able to reach numerous children who would otherwise not have this chance and make a positive impact on their lives.”
Gilley approached The Varsity Theatre last year because of a lifelong appreciation of the venue. “My love for this place and its commitment to continue promoting live music in Baton Rouge runs deep,” he said. "Helping others is something that is close to my heart. I’ve been blessed to play music for a living and this is my way to say thanks and give back to help those truly in need.”
Several local businesses supporting this year’s event include, Group Contractors, Cajun Industries, Assurance Financial, B&G Construction, Walk On’s Catering, Mann Marketing, Bridal Boutique & many more. “The Varsity shares our commitment to helping those in need and has again helped in making this event a reality,” Gilley says.
